Photoshop Slideshow Assignment

This project is referred to as the Digital Photo Project in the syllabus. The assignment involves making significant changes to 4 to 5 photos of your own using Photoshop. Once you have corrected/changed the photos, the next step is to have them placed into a PowerPoint presentation for showing in class. If your photos are on paper, you will need a flat-bed scanner to digitize them. This can be done in the computer lab or in the TV Studio lab area. Follow the steps below:

1. Make sure to have saved your changed photos as new files (JPEGs) with names you can recognize from the original files. Do not save over your original files.

2. Because you need to bring this project to class on a CD-R, you should create a folder on your hard disk that will contain all your old and changed photos, as well as the PowerPoint presentation file. This folder will later be copied to a burned CD-R.

3. Save or copy both the old and changed photos into this folder.

4. Begin a new PowerPoint presentation. Make a title page that includes your name and the title of your project.

5. On the next slide, place your first original photo by using the Insert, Image from File command in PowerPoint. Expand the photo so it takes up most of the slide. Using text, write "Photo 1 - original" or "Photo 1 - before" somewhere on the slide.

6. The next slide should feature your changed photo that matches the one you put on slide 2. Insert your changed photo and expand to almost fill the slide. Make sure not to distort the perspective of the photo. Type some text that says "Photo 1 - changed" or "Photo 1 - after" on the slide.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each of the photos you corrected using 2 slides for each photo and its corresponding changed version.

8. Save your presentation as you go along. Once finished, you can burn your folder to a data CD-R. Make sure to write your name on your disc using a felt marker.

9. In class, you will be asked to come to the front of the room, place your CD-R in the computer, launch your presentation, and discuss the changes you made as you go through the slides.
