COEM 232 - Video Production
1. Study all notes given in class.
2. Study all terms from each chapter.
3. Study the “Main Points” sections of each chapter.
4. Be familiar with these areas of the chapters covered by the exam:
- Difference between JPEG and MPEG compression for
digital media.
- Explain differences among video signal types -
composite, Y/C component, and RGB component.
- Identify the different videotape tracks on the
basic videotape track system.
- What is a TBC and what is it used for?
- How is digital signal recording different from analog?
- What is an electronic still store system?
- How is a video leader organized - what comes
first, then second, etc.?
- Be familiar with the recording checklist.
- What are the differences between control track
and time code?
- What are the differnces between assemble and insert
editing? What tracks get recorded?
- What is the purpose of logging videotape and what
types of logs are used in editing?
- What is a window dub?
- Offline versus online editing - What does this
mean?
- What are the principles of editing?
- Be familiar with the differences between
continuity editing and complexity editing.
- What is the mental map?
- What are the four functions of editing?
- What is the difference between a superimposition
and a key?
- What makes an internal key different from
an external key or a matte key
- How are effects made? Digital effects? Optical
effects? Mechanical effects? Be able to give an example of each category of
effects.
